A friend and I hunted on Tom's Ranch near the Niobrara River for 2 days during the December 2000 muzzleloader season. My friend shot an eight-pointer the second day. It was in a field with 47 deer and seven or eight bucks. We saw about 20 bucks in two days. It's an inexpensive hunt for an unguided hunter. He'll probably get bigger bucks in future years as he keeps neighbors away and takes paying customers. He and his wife own a bed and breakfast in town.
