Overall Impression: Poor

The overall atmosphere was good. Good accomodations and excellent food! It was unseasonably warm(hot) and it rained most of the time. I saw 4 deer in 3 and a half days, no bucks. There were 18 hunters in camp and only one buck and 3 doe were brought in. No one was seeing any deer. Everyone was frustrated. I realize that the weather was very bad, but if there had been as many deer as was advertised, there would have been more deer sighted. I feel that the advertised success rate is greatly inflated! I got the impression that the same stands were being hunted everyday, without a rest. I also got the impression that the staff of SSL puts more emphasis on the Buckmasters Classic being successful than it does the average hunter. There was an impressive collection of celebrity photos (all with big bucks)lining the walls of the dining room. SSL seemed to be rather proud of them. Several hunters felt that they did not get their moneys worth. I will not be going back there. I would not recommend this lodge to anyone, unless they are a nationally known celebrity! 4 deer in 3 and a half days is not enough!
