While the Molsee's are very very nice people, it pains me to have to write this, a guide service they are not! The basic Elk/Deer hunt cost $3,800.00 for 7 days. After travel expenses, License's and other fee's total out of pocket cost is around $5,500.00 per person. While the food at camp was great thanks to their wonderful cook "Gabby" the rest of the hunt was an utter disaster. Guide Services are PAID WELL to know where the animals are at. It is the part of hunting I don't have the time to do. It's called "scouting" and a good scout knows where the animals in his area are and where they go in any and all hunting conditions. Shattuck Creek Outfitters exhibited none of these essential qualities. The so called guides drop you off at designated stands/blinds and leave you there for the day. These stands/blinds appear to be placed in the same locations year after year. The one exception was "Luke" who actually stayed with his hunter throughout the day. Hunting pressure in this area also adds to the lack of success since it is public land and the "locked gates" touted by the Outfitter can be driven around on quads which is exactly what he uses. I can understand that not all hunts go the way we want but ask your self this: If you are sitting in an area glassing and notice a very nice size bull elk grazing in small opening about 1000 yards away. Then you notice someone 500 yards to your right standing on the side of a mountain clearing "walking around and throwing sticks over the side" and finding out it is the OWNER of the Guide Service.... well you make the call.
