I was a little nervous when I arrived at Caryonah and was told that no hunting from man made elevated stands was allowed. It's an insurance thing. Since I was there to bowhunt for wild hogs, you can understand my nervousness. I couldnt imagine taking a wild hog from the ground with no bait, no stand, etc. I had been hog hunting in SC two times previously and had not taken a hog. Really hadnt even seen much. Well, by noon of the first day of the hunt I killed a nice 200lb sow on a spot and stalk. What a great hunt. I saw several hogs previously during the morning, eight of which my guide put within 20yds during a small drive but I couldnt get a shot. A business associate of mine was with me hunting with a rifle. He killed a nice boar, also close to 200 lb by 10AM the first morning. Long story short, this was a great hunt. Great food, great accomodations, and guides that know exactly where the hogs bed, feed, move, etc. I definately plan on going back. My only complaint was that the hunt was over with too quickly.
