Would Recommend: NO!! Stay far, far away!!!

Overall Impression: Total rip-off!!

The hunt was totally misrepresented by Rick Sears as a trophy mule deer hunt. Rick's nephew Kevin was in charge of the camp. No one knew guide or ranch assignments before the first morning of the hunt when Kevin showed up still half drunk from his partying the previous night. My first guide (would hunt with him again) had been hired the day before and had never hunted anywhere in this part of New Mexico. The outfitter didn't supply any maps or scouting information to the guide. In the first three days, on two ranches, we never saw a deer and very few tracks, all small. The guide left after day 3. The last two days were on a third ranch where I did see deer one morning, but nothing worth shooting. Guide #2 was proud of his specialty of shooting deer out of season with a spotlight. He had never guided before and was not from New Mexico. One of the three "private" ranches was actually open to the public. Not seeing a trophy deer is just hunting, but the total lack of preparation and effort by the outfitter and the misrepresentation of the ranches is inexcusable. A total waste of time and money!!
