I, and several friends, have now hunted with Shawn at Trophy Quest for the past two years during the rut (November 11/12 thru 15/16). We all saw good bucks and a fair amount of deer; more in 05 than in 04. When we weren't seeing deer out of one stand, Shawn moved us to other areas / farms at our request. In 04, most of the big bucks we saw were on the hoof with a couple being killed by others in the camp. In 05, everyone saw big bucks on the hoof and several bucks ranging in the 140,150,& 160 range were killed by hunters in the camp. If you expect to see bottle-fed monster bucks, or "livestock" every hour on the hour on a penned hunt, then go somewhere else.If you want a legitimate crack at a big buck on a fair chase hunt in prime Illinois farmland, and you're patient, then this is the place for you. On the last day of our hunt in 05, several of us saw the biggest bucks we've ever seen on the hoof within close proximity to our guys' stands. The big bucks are there; no doubt about it. We all saw them, on Trophy Quests' leases, both years.The cabins and the lodge are new and comfortable. They are also very clean, warm, and just fine. Both years, the food was excellent and plentiful. The guides, including Shawn, went out of their way to get our guys out to the different farms and explained in detail how to find the hunting locations. When we were done, they were there to pick us up. We never expected them to take us by the hand to get us a 'guaranteed' kill. They did a great job for us. We hunted with Shawn at Trophy Quest for the first time in 2004; went back in 2005 because of 2004; and because of our experiences during both prior hunts, we're going back in 2006. Shawn and Joy Taylor made us feel like we were their friends rather than customers.
