Overall Impression: Disappointed

Myself and 2 partners went on the late season Black Powder hunt at Heartland. There were 15 hunters in camp and nobody shot a deer. I think there were only 2 mature deer seen in the 4 days and NO shooting opportunities. That is 15 hunters and no deer. I personally saw 6 deer in 4 days while on stand, 1 spike and 5 does, one of which was wounded and they told me to not shoot wounded deer. My guide, and I use this term loosely, continually set me up with the wind at my back in BowHunting stands 30' high. On two occasions I was set up looking into other property and expected to hunt across the fence. I am very disappointed and will not reccommend or return to Heartland Lodge. Good folks, but very clearly set up for bow hunting. All of the farms we were on were hunted hard before we got there. I felt like we were just late tip money for the guides. Sad way to end a season.Mike Cox
