Overall Impression: First Class

My first elk hunt was in 2000 with a muzzleloader.I killed a 5x6, 290 class bull on the first day. I had obtained a bear tag and killed a 250 lb. bear on the second day of bear hunting with my muzzleloader. My buddy killed a 6x7, 300 class bull on the last day of the 5 day hunt. There were 6 hunters in camp - we killed three bulls,(290, 300, 325 class) and a bear. The other three hunters passed up or missed bulls. In 2002 I hunted archery elk with Timberline. I saw 18 bulls during the seven day hunt. I passed up 4 bulls (30 yds or closer). I was within 25 yds. of a 330 class bugling bull but never got a clear shot. I missed another 330 class bull on the last day at 50 yds. My fault. Perry and his wife Brenda run a first class operation. Real nice ranch house where you eat breakfast and dinner. The hunters stay in the bunk house with a bathroom/hot shower. Two beds to a room. The guides have been with Perry for years and know the country and the ELk. This unit is a muzzleloader/archery unit only and has not been rifle hunted for years.
