Outfitter Review: Nevada Outfitters - NV

Outfitter / Owner: Rob Wallin

Hunter: Shane Tatom

Animals Hunted: Mule Deer

I would like everyone to be aware that this Outfitter Rob and his wife Candice are not what they portray themselves to be. In January of 2010, a hunt was purchased through an auction for this Outfitter to take my Father and I on a land owner mule deer hunt. I contacted them immediately after the winning bid and was talked into purchasing a muzzleloader to hunt during muzzleloader season. Then I was told to contact Candice with my hunting license number so she could go through the state of Nevada to obtain my land owner tag. I called her with my license number and she said that she would take care of my tag which was a lie because the landowner has to send you - the hunter- the application and you -the hunter- have to send it in to the Department of Fish and Game of Nevada! Then throughout the year until September they told me everything was looking great. I called three weeks before my hunting date to confirm the directions and times and Candice told me Rob was out scouting and that he would call me back in a couple of days. A week went by with no phone call back and they would not answer their phones anymore. So I contacted the Department of Fish and Game and was told that he had lost his guide's license as of January 1st, 2010! I was strung along from January to September 2010, spent over $1,000 on a gun that I could not use and have never used. This was not an accident. It was an outright lie and deception that lasted nine months. They had many chances to tell me the truth about their license issues but yet they chose to deceive me. If you google his name, you will see that on March 19th, 2010 he was appealing his 2010 Guide's license and then on June 25th, 2010 he was withdrawing his 2010 Application. All of this taking place through the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners meeting. So, I am posting this to warn anybody that might be considering his services. I believe he now has his license back so be careful.

Outfitter Review: Nevada High Desert Outfitters - NV

Outfitter / Owner: Mitch Buzzetti

Hunter: Tom Conrardy

Animals Hunted: Mule Deer

Mid-west and Eastern hunts look beyond the rockies for some dandy muleys. Easy to get to flying thru Salt lake, Nevada Ruby mountains have some tremendous Muleys. I shot a 30 1/2 spread muley on day three, saw two good shooters each day. One of the best hunts I have ever experienced. Hunting with my guide Justin and Mitch made for a great time. These guys really know how to Glass and seem to always be on some animal. They hunt with a passion and are determined to help you get your animal. You should be in reasonable shape so you enjoy your hunt. I'm headed back as soon as I draw again.

Outfitter Review: Nevada Outfitters - NV

Outfitter / Owner: Rob Wallin

Hunter: Stoney Grayson

Animals Hunted: Cougar Mountain Lion

Tried 2 different weeks hunting in 2009 with Rob Wallin from Nevada outfitters to harvest a Lion, but unfortunately his 2 dogs were not experienced and his other guide never showed up with his dogs due to not having xtra $$ for tire replacement on his truck. Rob seemed to be a better choice for Elk & Mule deer, but would not even consider him for Lion hunting again.

Animals Hunted: Rocky Mountain Goat

When I drew this PIW Rocky Mountain Goat tag, I wanted to hire the outfitter that would give me the best chance at success. After many phone calls, one name kept coming up, the Buzzetti's, and Nevada High Desert Outfitters. My guides had me on goats the first night, and I harvested the 2nd day. I am very pleased with the experience provided by Mitch, Rachel, and our guides Justin, and Alexander, and would definetely recommend High Desert Outfitters.

Animals Hunted: Mule Deer

This is an outstanding trophy mule deer hunt. Mitch Buzzetti is one of the best guides that I have ever hunted with, and I have been on over 100 guided hunts. The facilities were superb and the food was incredible. Mitch and his wife Rachel really do an awesome job of taking care of their hunters, and I would recommend this hunt to anyone that is in great shape.

Hunter: Alan B.

Animals Hunted: Mule Deer

Nevada High Desert OutfittersPlease be advised against this outfitter. I had a very bad experinece. He lists a 6 fulls days of hunting but fails to tell you that you will lose 2 on the first and last days, as you will be watching his guys setup and then take down the camp on your dime. How about no toilet paper in the make shift outdoor toilet. No enclosed or cover on the bathroom, so when it rains or snows, good luck. No shower or any place to wash your hands.Don't even ask for an extra bag of chips or food if your hungry, Mitch Buzzetti, the outfitter will quickly, turn you away and embarrass you for asking. If it snows, might as well stay in your tent, the outfitter or his guides won't be even going out to help you find a deer.I am 100% truthful about my experience.

Outfitter Review: Purple Sage Outfitters - NV

Outfitter / Owner: Shane Stever

Hunter: Dan Hahlbohm

Animals Hunted: elk

I have been on 4 guided hunts. Shane Stever works harder than any outfitter I have ever hunted with.He also knows his hunting area very well. We saw bulls every day we hunted. You must be in excellent shape to get to where the bulls are as the terrain is not conducive (to steep and rocky) to hunting with horses. I can't say enough about how hard Shane worked to get me my 6x6 bull. I also saw the three biggest mulies I have ever seen while hunting with Shane.

Outfitter Review: Jarbidge Wilderness Guides - Nevada

Outfitter / Owner: Lowell Prunty

Hunter: Larry Florio

Animals Hunted: Mule Deer

This one is the real deal! Four hunters in our camp; two guides; a wrangler who also helped with the guiding, and a cook. These guys have been in the Jarbidge Wilderness area for many, many years and it shows. We were on nice bucks from Day One. The food and accomodations were great. Menu ranged from big, BBQd steaks to burritos. Hearty breakfast served every morning early, then on to the horses for a couple of hours to get where we wanted to go. Hunt until dark. One hunter in our camp missed two B&C bucks (I saw one of them, he was an absolute toad!). Personally, I passed on several bucks in the 20-24" class waiting for a monster. It never happened. A third hunter took a 22," 4X4 on the third day, and our fourth chose to wait it out like me, hoping for a huge one (they are in there!). The scenery was breathtaking. Best of all, no unwanted "outfitter surprises," These guys deliver exactly what they advertise. Every guy in my camp would highly recommend this hunt. E-mail me if I can help.

Outfitter Review: Secret Pass Outfitters - Nevada

Outfitter / Owner: Joe Wines

Hunter: Doug Wesley

Animals Hunted: mule deer

I hunted the late rifle season...was successful on day 2 with a deer which green scored about 172 (27.5 inches wide). These guys are hard working and take the hunt very seriously. Recommend that you be used to riding/handling horses on this hunt. The area's deer population (Ruby Mountains) is decent but was down a bit in 98 compared to past years. Overall, a great hunt. The five guys hunting the late hunt with me all got nice deer.
